A bed for Stick Man

After finding Stick Man in the tree house, Kyle wanted to make him a home. We made him a stick house and found a soft leaf for his bed. What else could we make for stick man and what materials will we need? Write your ideas as a comment on this post.

Word woods

This week we found a word woods in our outdoor learning area. There were some of our tricky words in there and some new, descriptive words. We read these words and matched them to the different settings we found outside too. We then thought of our own descriptive words and next week we will use these when planning a story. image

Challenge Time in the mud kitchen (child initiate learning)

We are being the 3 bears from Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. We are learning about capacity, using story language and acting out a familiar story whilst we play! image

We have been learning all about measuring capacity. We have used the mud kitchen to create pies, cakes and drinks that we’re full, half full and empty! We explored overflowing and compared containers to learn that capacity measure how much available space there is. image

Who lives in a place like this?

This week we have been learning about what a setting in a story is. We found clues in each setting and describing words in the word woods to match to each setting.
A warm, tidy, beautiful house in the woods. A pretty bed and beautiful dresses… Who do you think lives in a house like this?image

A cold, wooden home. We found 1 big plate, 1 medium sized plate and 1 tiny plate. We also found a huge chair, a large chair and a small chair. Who do you think lives in a place like this?image

Dark, gloomy, overgrown and creepy. We crept through the word woods wondering who we might meet. Who do you think lives in a place like this? image

Green group had a math challenge during child initiated learning. They had to find out how many sticks it took to go from one side of the stable to the other. We have been learning about teen numbers so when green group wrote their answer down they had to make sure they wrote their teen number the right was round.
