Phonics

We found words and pictures hidden in our sand pit! They were pictures of things you might find in the Scutari hospital, like ‘cut’, ‘leg’ and ‘mop’. We had to read the words then write them on the bard so that RSM Thomas could do some more research about them. Some of us found the pictures with initial sounds missing. We had to sound out to hear initial sound then write it down.

Scutari Hospital in our barn!

RSM Thomas has been learning about the conditions injured soldiers wherein during thy Crimean war a long long time ago. He read about a lady called Florence Nigtingale a asked us to find out all we could using non-fiction sources. To help us understand what Florence and her nurses had to do when they got to the hospital in Scutari, we created an old hospital in our barn outside. We had to clean it up just like the nurses (we were glad there was no mouldy food or maggots!)

Writing in our writing bunker

This week we have been injured soldiers hiding out in the bunker. As injured soldiers we have written letters home to our families to tell them all about it.

Children in Need

For children in need we wore hats and talked about why we raise money for others. We thought about all the things we are thankful for in our lives…there were lots!

Forest school

This gallery contains 5 photos.

We found lots of natural materials. We took photographs as we noticed that non-fiction books use photos and we will be making our own no-fiction books next week.
